Dr Emma Bacon
What to expect
Then we will arrange a first appointment for us to meet in person and get to know each other. I'll gather some more information and begin to understand the problems and what is keeping them going. We will decide whether psychological therapy may be useful and if so we will agree our aims and the approach we will use.
We will then have further appointments working together to resolve the problems and reduce the chance of them recurring.
I meet with the person seeking help (if an adult) or the child alone, or with his/her parent(s) or carer(s). Appointments may be at a GP practice, at your home or at a local therapy room. I aim to be flexible and offer some evening and weekend appointments. Therapy may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly and may last for just a few sessions or many more, depending on the problems and types of therapies.
